Location & Arrival at Panoramahotel Oberjoch

Our weekend started on a rainy Thursday afternoon. We had grand plans for our time off and had researched several hikes to explore in the hiking area of Oberjoch, where the Panoramahotel is situated. Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favor, and it continued to rain throughout the entire weekend. I guess, that means we now have a reason to return another time.

Getting to the hotel by car was very easy, especially since we were able to drive directly into the parking garage. The parking facility is already included in your booking.

Using public transport, the journey to the Panoramahotel Oberjoch would have been much more tedious for us. However, local bus lines number 48 and 120 stop right outside the door at the Oberjoch, Iselerbahn stop. Depending on the region you are traveling from, this might be an option worth considering.

Rooms & Suites at Panoramahotel Oberjoch

Double room

We were invited to spend our weekend in a classic double room with a balcony. What we particularly appreciate upon arrival at a hotel are the small attentions given to welcome guests. At Panoramahotel Oberjoch, we were greeted with a glass of Prosecco, a refreshing towel, and a cake in our room. Cake is always a winner for us! 🙂

Per person and night 136 € – 354 €

If you want more space or are traveling with your children or friends, it might be worth taking a look at the different suites or the gallery room:

Gallery Room

The gallery room offers space for up to 4 people and is divided into two bedrooms and two bathrooms across two floors. It’s a great option if you’re spending your weekend with family or friends, as long as you can manage with a little less privacy. The gallery room is completely open, with no closed doors separating the rooms.

Per person and night 160 € – 387 €

Suites

In addition to the Junior Suite with one floor, there are various themed suites with two floors, each featuring a special amenity on the upper floor. The “Spa Suite” has a private sauna on the upper floor, and the “Fitness Suite” has a small gym upstairs. And then there is the “Selfness Suite” where a pool table, a  table football, and a game console are waiting for you.

Per person and night 160 € – 401 €

Alpine Chalets

In addition to the rooms and suites, the Panoramahotel also offers you the opportunity to stay in your own small alpine chalet. Here, you can enjoy privacy without sacrificing comfort and luxury. The chalets can accommodate four people on two floors and include two separate bedrooms, a small kitchenette, a cozy living and dining area with a fireplace, and a sauna. Personally, we’re definitely keeping this option in mind for one of our next stays in the Allgäu Alps with our family.

Per person and night 270 € – 447 €

Wellness at the Panoramahotel Oberjoch

As soon as we finished the welcome cake, it was time to check out the wellness area.

There are five different saunas at Panoramahotel Oberjoch, each with a different design and temperature range. The Sole lounge (36 °C) and the bio sauna (50 °C) offer mild temperatures, while the panoramic sauna (80 °C) and the log cabin sauna (90 °C) are much hotter. Additionally, there is a steam bath (45 °C) that Patrik was very enthusiastic about. As for me, I spent a lot of time in the indoor and outdoor pools and one of the five relaxation rooms.

Other highlights of the wellness area:

  • You can enjoy the wellness area all day on both the day of arrival and departure at no extra charge. Bathrobes and towels will be provided by the reception, and you can change in the changing rooms.
  • If you are interested in a massage, facial, or manicure, you can choose from a wide range of treatments.
  • If you are interested in spending only one day in the wellness area of Panoramahotel Oberjoch, there is the option of a DAY SPA. You can access the entire wellness area from 9:00 am to 10 pm, and a light lunch and afternoon cake are included.
Prices start at 85 € per person

Culinary highlights at the Panoramahotel Oberjoch

We enjoyed a ¾ luxury board during our stay, which included a large breakfast buffet, a lunch consisting of salads, soup, and bread, a selected cake buffet, and a 6-course gourmet menu for dinner. You definitely won’t leave Panoramahotel Oberjoch hungry. Whenever possible, products are sourced from small family-run producers and suppliers in the Allgäu region. If you look around in the hotel lobby, you will discover a presentation of selected suppliers.

Dinner at the Panorama Restaurant

The 6-course gourmet menu on Thursday evening included everything we could have wished for. After a generous salad buffet, we had the option to choose from a regional menu, a vegan menu, or the Bavarian classics. We really liked the fact that we could individually tailor our menu from the three different options. That night, we went to bed feeling very full and satisfied.

Breakfast buffet

No matter where we are, and especially no matter how full we are before going to bed, Patrik always looks forward to a “good breakfast” the next day. To be honest, I felt the same way at Panoramahotel Oberjoch, and we were not disappointed. What we liked the most was the juice bar with seasonal vegetables and fruits. There is also a live cooking station for various egg dishes and a wide selection of cold cuts, bread, yogurt, and vegan options. It’s definitely a great way to start the day.

Breakfast is served daily from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m.

It is included for hotel guests and costs €31 per person for external guests

Kitchen party or BBQ

On Friday, we were excited for a special event that awaited us. Every Friday, the hotel arranges a so-called kitchen party. A large appetizer buffet is set up in the hotel kitchen, and there is an opportunity to observe the chefs as they prepare the main dishes. The entire evening is accompanied by traditional Bavarian live music. Even though this type of music is not usually on our playlist, it perfectly matched the ambiance and put us in a really good mood. During the summer days, the hotel organizes a barbecue instead of the kitchen party.

Cocktail courses

After making a prior reservation, you can participate in a cocktail course at the hotel bar. Since we had very little knowledge about cocktail preparation, we definitely did not want to miss it. Our bartender, Sascha, prepared two different aperitif cocktails with us in a truly entertaining way, which put us in the perfect mood for the dinner that followed.

Available every Tuesday and Saturday from 5 to 6 pm.

22 € per person

During our entire stay, we indulged in the menu of the panoramic restaurant. However, if you’re looking for more variety, you can visit the highest steak restaurant in Germany called Zwölfhundert NN. Please note that dinner at the steak restaurant is not included in your stay, but you will be credited €23.50 per person.

Excursions around the Panoramahotel Oberjoch

Unfortunately, we were not very fortunate with the weather during our weekend, and the rain only stopped for a few minutes. Therefore, we only went outside once for a short walk in the rain. Within 20 minutes, we walked to the mountain hut of the Panoramahotel Oberjoch, and thanks to the rain, we had a wonderful excuse for a short break with hot chocolate and apple strudel.

Other excursion options:

  • Lake Vilsalp
  • Lake Schreck
  • Breitachklamm Gorge
  • The Christmas village in Bad Hindelang
  • Additionally, there is a direct connection to the ski slope and ski lift. If desired, the hotel can issue you the Allgäuer-Walser-Card, which grants you numerous discounts for leisure activities in the area.

Conclusion of our stay at the Panoramahotel Oberjoch

On Sunday afternoon, it was time for us to bid farewell to the Panoramahotel Oberjoch* and begin our journey home. We discovered that the Panoramahotel Oberjoch is a family-friendly wellness hotel where you can enjoy a wonderful and relaxing time with your family or as a couple. What particularly impressed us was the diverse sauna area with its beautifully designed relaxation rooms, as well as the various events offered by the hotel. Whether it was a guided hike around Oberjoch, the weekly kitchen party, or cocktail courses, the hotel truly presented a plethora of ideas.

Due to its location at the ski slope and in the hiking area, we believe that a visit to the Panoramahotel is worthwhile at any time of the year. We are already planning our next trip to the Allgäu Alps to further explore the area, hopefully with better weather.

We were invited on a sponsored stay at the Panoramahotel Oberjoch, but this has not influenced our opinion about our stay and this hotel portrait.
